Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Novus ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

Age requirement. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using Novus you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.

US only. Novus is currently available only to residents of the United States. The Service is not offered, and may not be used, outside the US. You are responsible for compliance with local laws.

3. The Service

Novus is a personal finance coaching application that helps you track spending, set goals, and chat with an AI coach.

4. AI coaching disclaimer

The AI coach ("Ask Novus") provides general educational information only. Novus is not a licensed financial advisor, broker, accountant, or tax professional, and nothing produced by the AI coach constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You are solely responsible for any financial decisions you make. Consult a qualified professional before acting on any information provided by the Service.

5. Plaid bank connection consent

Novus uses Plaid Inc. to securely connect to your bank and retrieve transaction and account data. By linking an account you:

  • Authorize Plaid to access your financial information on your behalf;
  • Authorize Novus to receive and use that information to power the Service;
  • Acknowledge that your use of Plaid is governed by Plaid's own privacy policy and end user terms.

You may disconnect a linked institution at any time from your profile settings. Disconnecting may limit functionality of the Service.

6. Subscription billing

Free trial. Novus offers a 14-day free trial. A valid credit or debit card is required upfront to begin the trial. No charge will be made during the 14-day trial period.

Automatic charge on day 15. On day 15, your card will be automatically charged $14.99 USD and your paid subscription will begin. Your subscription will then renew automatically each month at $14.99 USD until cancelled. By starting the trial, you authorize this recurring charge.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through your profile settings or by emailing support. If you cancel before the end of day 14, you will not be charged. If you cancel after billing has begun, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month and you retain access until that date.

No refunds for partial months. All charges are non-refundable. We do not provide refunds or credits for partial months, unused time, or features you did not use.

Failed payments. If a charge fails, we may retry, and we may suspend or cancel your subscription if payment cannot be collected.

Price changes. We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Changes apply to the next renewal after the notice period.

7. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

8. Acceptable use

Don't try to break the Service, abuse other users, reverse engineer the app, or use Novus to do anything illegal.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Novus disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Novus shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, savings, data, or financial outcomes arising from your use of the Service.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
